About this deal

Shades of Marmite – 5th March 2015) In that post, I mentioned that I would like to read an extended version of Christian’s perspective, after the teaser chapters at the end of Fifty Shades Freed. Y es que un minuto puede pensar cosas dignas de un puberto pervertido y en un segundo pasa a modo adolescente enamorada: ¡Ana me mandó un beso! I thought it was because I was a prude delving in to "Mommy Porn" when all the other horny geezers were reading this years ago, but now that I fly my freak flag prominently it's just the scenes themselves. Demand for Christian’s point of view was rife and the author has given us exactly what we'd asked for.

I also didn’t like the way that James chucks in a few big words here and there to try to make the narrative sound cleverer than it is. However, I would have loved to have been surprised, to have seen an improvement in James’s writing skills. The result was the controversial and sensuous romance Fifty Shades of Grey and its two sequels, Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed . Fortunatley, my library had the CDs of this book so I was able to listen to it while driving to and from work, and while folding laundry, so I didn't feel like I wasted time.

He has secrets that he cannot share with Anastasia because they would scare her away, and he is too selfish to let her go. We are shown how Christian inwardly questions his feelings for Ana as he is interacting with her, and his surprise that he can’t stop thinking about her, but he does not explore his feelings beyond surface level.

It was watching him struggle with his desire for her, his need of punishment and ultimately his undoing. There are things that have been left out that were in the first book but have been replaced by something that has happened or is happening in Christian's life. The only issue I really had and it was mostly in the beginning of the book, was that Christian seemed to be the woman in the relationship.Critical reception for Grey has been generally negative and many critics have criticized it for being too similar to Fifty Shades of Grey. However, these characters intrigue me considerably, for reasons I can’t quite get a handle on, but I think it has to do with the potential for depth in these characters. After a tempestuous night with an A-list movie star I probably should not identify, I rise early; my companion, exhausted by our naughty games, is still asleep, and I decide to let her get some well-earned rest. P/S: Flipped to the last page and found out that this book only covers the first book in the trilogy. Elliot, Christian’s older brother, runs a successful construction company that specializes in eco-friendly housing.
