The two converse back and forth, despite the heightening threats to their lives, about Asaba and the severe censorship in Britain. A Letter Away From Asaba' is an account of the Asaba massacre during the Nigerian Civil War woven into a fictional narrative.

The book follows two lifelong friends, Chioma and Onome, as they investigate the atrocities that led to the massacre in their hometown of Asaba and the obstacles they encounter.

The last sentence of this book written in Claudia’s acknowledgments is as follows; “through reading this historical fictional narrative, I hope it inspires people to seek out their history and immerse themselves into crucial historical discourse. The talented Claudia Efemini has written a beautiful novel that shines a lot on an important topic that, unfortunately, not many are knowledgeable about or have had the chance to be informed on. Onome’s experiences navigating a white campus as a black student will be relatable for many young readers today, and the lessons she learns can provide guidance and support to the readers who identify with her.

Efemini does not refrain from straightforward and unapologetic honesty, transporting the reader with the courageous voices of Chioma and Onome. The distance emphasizes this issue, making the form of communication even more crucial to the book's plot. Her novel, Little River, explores Scotland’s role in slavery in the Caribbean, with a particular focus on Scottish sugar barons in Jamaica from 1731 to 1812.

This was all brought together by another amazing friend, undergrad in International Relations and International Law, ACS (African-Caribbean Soicety) President and many other amazing things Rutendo Hoto. Born and raised in London, Claudia spent the latter part of her upbringing in Sweden before moving to Edinburgh to pursue her degree in 2021.
