About this deal

Almost lost in this hodge-podge are a few absolute gems, probably topped by a live-in-the-radio-studio acoustic duet rendition of “Orange Claw Hammer” with Zappa on acoustic guitar. So many legendary stories surround this magical-looking building, which appeared to have been left to decay. For almost 20 years, Beefheart released a series of brilliant, gleefully absurd albums that often hinted at deeper, far darker truths. If we are contacted by a Seller who wishes to bring a claim against you, we may in our discretion provide the Seller with information or assistance in relation to that claim. What Beefheart inspired was not a reproduction of his Delta atonality or famous multi-octave range, but a willingness to rethink rock from the bottom up.

Neither we nor our employees or agents will be responsible for any failure to execute your commission bid, unless our failure to do so is unreasonable. At the exact moment the music industry is overrun with homogenized teen harmonisers, along comes a grizzled, determinedly weird voice from the deep vault, bellowing a sloppy counterattack to all that manufactured cheer. Since we are still in the SAM discussion portion of this thread and this was my first and favorite Captain Beefheart CD I ever bought. However it could appear on CD now, as I believe there were a couple of Tim Buckley albums that were reissued as part of Rhino's Original Album Series that were previously very hard to find on CD.In addition to the above, neither we nor the Seller shall be responsible to you and you shall not be responsible to the Seller or us for any other loss or damage that any of us suffer that is not a foreseeable result of any of us not complying with the Conditions of Business. I should dip myself into that coca-cola This box set is subject to the box set-curse more than any other I'm aware of.

Etsy’s 100% renewable electricity commitment includes the electricity used by the data centres that host Etsy. Not to mention that this box has the best packaging of any music collection ever- beautiful design and lengthy liner notes by Drumbo himself (featuring interviews with other band members). I'm not sure he made enough albums during his lifetime for an ABA but I'd love to see someone tackle the post-1983 releases. Disc 5 is a hodgepodge of live material (including audio versions of some of the video from disc 4), radio recordings, and demos- too much of a hodgepodge to actually be very interesting to listen to in sequence. Rather this is more of an “alternative history” that fills in gaps and yields insights and clarifications that might otherwise be missed. If you bid on a Lot, including by telephone and online bidding, or by placing a commission bid, we assume that you have carefully inspected the Lot and satisfied yourself regarding its condition and authenticity. The highlight for me is the Captain's rendering of "Orange Claw Hammer", accompanied by Frank Zappa on acoustic guitar. Given that the early cuts are from 1966, this must have been one of the heavier bands at the time – raw, ramshackle. Please read these Terms of Sale carefully, as they may be different from the last time you read them. The 3rd disc presents an alternate history of the epic Troutmaskreplica but does not eclipse the original, of course.

The Trout Mask instrumentals and the Odd Jobs and Evening Bell demos are big highlights of this collection for me and Korn Ring Finger (my favorite “out-take” from the Mirror Man/It Comes To You In A Plain Brown Wrapper sessions) was only available on CD on this collection before Buddha put it out as a bonus track on the 1999 CD re-issue of Safe As Milk. The ability to appreciate its seemingly random, all-but-impenetrable 2LP length seemed beyond the ken of all but the most hardcore weirdos.
