About this deal

He strains credulity when he relates having sex with the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, both together and separately. While thus employed he accepted an old queen's offer of twenty bucks for a bit of noggin and the die was cast. For almost his entire life - and for whatever reason - Bowers has been something of a sex machine and is almost completely unapologetic about it.

This book was written by a man who loved sex and glamour and had no guilt for living his life his way. A.Police were always on the look out for a means to indulge their petty vindictiveness, and homosexuality was, and is, a much frowned upon habit in Hollywood; even now.

Mann had certainly talked to Bowers and his book claimed that "Kate and Spence" was a publicist's fabrication for the most part, albeit one that involved great affection and an on-screen partnership (nine films) that rescued their careers and which was to the glory and benefit of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, a studio skilled at public relations.

Is it because Hoover, from the grave, still manages to exert some sort of attenuated ability to blackmail people into silence? where he began to connect former Marine Corps pals and other acquaintances with Hollywood elite looking for secretive sexual encounters — gay and straight — in an era where the studio system and the mores of the day kept a lid on sexual activity and orientation. The secret lives of the stars exist only to make their screened moments shine with glamour and mystery. As well as a titillating catalogue of sexual intrigue, the book is designed to expose of the hypocrisy and fear that swirled beneath the industry's on-screen glamour and crafted wholesomeness. Bowers is so committed to star-fucking (both literal and figurative), and name-dropping, and building up his own legend that none of this reaches fun or factual. There is so much in Full Service I have not even touched on — and that's just the way a book review should go, in my opinion. I suppose it's possible, but even if it were I find it strange he never accepted money for hooking stars up with their little dalliances. and for whom the well-endowed Bowers performed his 'swizzle-stick trick' when he bartended private sex parties (at which, both he and no doubt his legal team are intent upon reminding you every fourth paragraph, he never ever EVER received any compensation.
