About this deal

That aside, “Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating” was an extremely comical, entertaining, sweet read. There were times her antics felt a bit over the top but it worked to showcase how self-assured and content she was with herself.

The entire premise of the blind double-dates made me cringe– I missed that part of the synopsis and might not have picked this book up if I had caught it– and it only gets worse as every single contender turns out to be more awful than the last. If her army of pets and thrill for the absurd don’t send them running, her lack of filter means she’ll say exactly the wrong thing in a delicate moment.

There is a constant theme of family in this book, both from Hazel and Josh’s side, and I loved it so much. There was some part of me that wanted her to pick me to be her new best friend—forget Emily or Josh. Quirkiness, fun double dates, sexy times that became unexpected, everything combined together to bring two individuals that are beyond different but definitely meant to be.

I’m Crazy Hazie and he’s Awesome Josh (hangover prevents me from finding something that rhymes with Josh) and nothing– I mean nothing— scares me more than the idea of us dating and him deciding that I’m too wild, too weird, too chaotic. Unfortunately, Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating was the least impressive contemporary romance I’ve read all year. So instead of giving me opinny on the story itself, I want to discuss the spicy scenes in this book. There's constantly heaps of laugh out loud moments throughout, all connected to Hazel and her eccentric ways with the odd dashes of Josh's sweet moments thrown in. Thanks to all of my Goodreads friends who recommended this so highly (Melissa, Larry, Berit, Melisa and Hollis, to name a few).
