About this deal

I use mine regularly, but over the past few months, I've found myself reaching for a new style of Microplane grater: the 3-in-1 ginger tool. These tools encompassed a range of sizes, shapes, materials, and grating styles: Some had rasp-style “etched” holes, some had puckered “stamped” holes punched out by a machine, and others—traditional Japanese oroshigane—had either metal teeth or ceramic nubs. Sign up now and feel safe knowing Webbs will treat your information with the utmost care and will never sell it to anyone. When I first used the tool, I marveled at the pile of fluffy ginger it produced—so much so that I grated too far too fast and nicked my finger, which leads to the second reason why I love the tool.

A razor-sharp, angled slicing blade towards the bottom of the tool thinly slices ginger with ease and precision, retaining all of the root vegetable’s natural oils and aromas for optimum and full flavour. Admittedly the Kyocera ceramic ginger grater is definitely a step up from my decades-old Asian market find that’s currently gathering dust. So with ceramic graters there’s a risk of using too much ginger in recipes (though admittedly that’s not really a bad thing in my book). For years I’ve used the rasp-style Microplane zester-grater, which works great to cut through the root’s tough fibers. The non-slip rubber foot and handle ensures stability and safety while its sleek design is an absolute eye-catcher. Unlike other graters, Microplane has a handle to hold, making it easy to grate over the dish itself. If you grate ginger with the zester, the fine or the star blade, it gets a soft, moist consistency and dissolves completely in dressings, sauces, marinades or soups. All the fibers get left behind either on the root itself or the ceramic nubs, while the puree and juice gets funneled to the trough.

One inch of ginger was all it took to tell me this is the most superior ginger grating tool out there. A wide panel incorporating Microplane's top-selling Fine blade, makes fast work of grating ginger, and a razor-sharp, angled blade towards the bottom of the tool thinly slices ginger with ease and precision. I was able to easily grate 1 inch of ginger in 50 seconds, and since the grater was new and sharp, I didn’t have to push too hard. The Microplane Ginger 3-in-1 Tool takes care of peeling, grating and slicing ginger all in one tool. ENHANCE THE AROMA - Using the Ginger Tool 3in1 guarantees the ginger to be cut precisely and allows the aroma to unfold and the flavor is enhanced!

When grating the ginger with the coarse blade, the texture is slightly stronger and is great for smoothies, homemade ginger lemon soda or freshly brewed ginger tea. You may notice when using a microplane to grate ginger that the lopsided ginger root is hard to manage with one hand, and the fibers end up clogging the holes. The ultra-sharp, photo- etched , fine blade - made in USA - grates ginger in a spoonable consistency.
